24 arrested in 'drug roundup' in Laurel County - WNKY News 40 Television (2024)

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say they have arrested two dozen people as part of a “drug roundup” in Laurel County.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, ongoing investigations resulted in charges that include trafficking meth, trafficking heroin, possession of meth, trafficking opiates, drug indictment warrants, probation violation, persistent felony offender, a federal indictment warrant and complaint warrants.

The following individuals have been arrested:

1. Michelle L. Jones, 40 of Corbin was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest and faces charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
2. April Hicks, 31 of London, Kentucky faces charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (heroin).
3. Brian K. Surgener, 41, Corbin faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
4. David Addison Nantz, 35, London, Kentucky faces charges of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
5. Sarah Elizabeth Tye, 37, of Corbin faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
6. Tracy E. Watkins, 52, of London, Kentucky faces charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.
7. Terry S. Hubbard, 50, London, Kentucky faces a charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
8. Christopher W. Surgener, 38, Corbin faces a complaint warrant charging Surgener with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
9. Angela Howard, 38, of London, Kentucky faces a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
10. Liza D. Godfrey, 30, London, Kentucky faces a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging Godfrey with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and persistent felony offender I.
11. William R. Freeman, 57, of London, Kentucky faces a Laurel district complaint warrant of arrest charging Freeman with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
12. Freddy Scalf , 63, of East Bernstadt faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Scalf with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
13. Jason R. Watkins, 29 of Rockhold, Kentucky faces aa Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Watkins with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
14. Arnie Lewis, 66, of Keavy faces a federal indictment warrant.
15. Brian Christopher Hamilton, 45 of Barbourville faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Hamilton with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
16. Joshua G. Shelby, 38, of Corbin faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Shelby with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
17. Brandy Tonielle Smith, 26, of London, Kentucky faces a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging Smith with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and persistent felony offender II.
18. John Peters, 46, of London, Kentucky faces charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense (methamphetamine), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense and receiving stolen property between $1,000 and $10,000.
19. Anthony D. Gregory, 30, of Corbin faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Gregory with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), session of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.
20. James Jacob Root, 38, of London, Kentucky faces a charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
21. Alicia Isom, 29, of London, Kentucky faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant charging Isom with trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (heroin). Isom also faces a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging her with failure to appear in court on three counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, prescription controlled substances not in proper container, first offense. A second Laurel District Court bench warrant charges Isom with failure to appear in court on charges of public intoxication (controlled substances).
22. Perry Lance Valentour, 31, of Keavy faces a Laurel District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging Valentour with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).
23. Joseph Baker, 31, of London, Kentucky faces an indictment warrant charging Baker with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, trafficking in a legend drug and persistent felony offender I.
24. Ashley Crawford, 30, of London, Kentucky faces an indictment warrant with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) trafficking in fentanyl, first offense, trafficking in heroin, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

All listed subjects were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Authorities say more arrests are expected.
