Triads are built by playing every other note of a musical scale. For example, to play a C major triad, you'd start with C, then skip up to E, then skip up again to G. These three notes, C-E-G, form a triad.

We create a major triad or major chord taking some root note, say C, and then moving up a major third, followed by a minor third (or a perfect 5th from the root). A perfect fifth is simply a major third plus a minor third above a root note, (or the 5th note in a major or minor scale).
The B♭ major triad consists of a root (B♭), third (D), and fifth (F). The distance between the root and the third is a major third interval (or four half-steps), and the distance between the third and the fifth is a minor third interval (or three half-steps). Major triads have a “happy” sound.
The B diminished triad consists of the notes B, D and F. The 2 inversions to the B diminished triad are D F B and F B D. The B diminished 7th chord, abbreviated as Bdim7 or B°7, has the notes B, D, F and A♭.
The formula for any major chord is 1 – 3 – 5 (C – E – G). A minor triad has a flat third degree compared to a major chord, so the formula for any minor triad is 1 – ♭3 – 5 (C -E♭ – G). Diminished chords have a flat fifth degree compared to a minor chord, so the formula for a diminished triad is always 1 – ♭3 – ♭5.
