well its not a Lux render,
this is just messing around with the new Base SS shader in DAZ 4.6

    Looks good,

How did you get one with the SS shader and how did you set it up?

    CHEERS!

There is a new base SSS shader that comes with DAZ 4.6 might be a separate download/install in DIM,

the figure is a combination of M5 and Mr. Hyde.. the Mr. Hyde mats are used for the initial setup,
I then changed the shader (keeping the textures) to the new subsurface base shader for all skin surfaces (excludeing finger and toe nails, eyes and stuff inside the mouth.

there are several presets for SSS material type, I set it to skin A then tweaked it from there..

a PDF manual comes with the shader

Oh, right, I've got that and I read the manual. I set mine to skin too. I didn't really have much to compare it to. Male M3dia will probably do a character that uses it so I'll steal their presets.

ok I did some more test renders (not the most flattering camera angle, and I have the HARDEST time getting the eyes to look properly at the camera. )

here we have the same scene, same shaders/textures, one with the SSS ON the other with the SSS off (based on shader settings.)

Top picture is SSS ON, bottom is SSS OFF

There's definitely a difference. Do you think it's any better than the HSS, UberSurface or Interjection?

I don't think I've used interjection, and I definitely like this better than HSS as for UberSurface I was never a big fan of it.
render times do not take a huge hit when using this shader.

The Star Trek uniform is available at sharecg and is for Valiant for m4 and courages for V4 so no need to fit.
the ironman suit for m4 is available here: http://inlitestudio.com/3d/ , and is free.

Trying to teach myself lighting with latex. The face is horribly unrealistic, need to use a different skin.

The massive head/facemask is by ChrisT, the corset is from the Roxana Yargowhatever chick, the boots are OTK, and the entire thing is shaded with Fisty's Hardcore latex shaders. The main 'bodysuit' is actually Genesis' body itself textured with a latex shader. Lights: IG Photostudio (backdrop too) and a UE2 sphere. Pose is by Laticis in his Watchers Fall pack (modified to bring the head up).

more playing around with SSS shaders
This is a scene I did previously, I used the !Subsurface Base Shader that was a freebie with DAZ 4.6 on the skin this time around,
oh and changed the backdrop to something less busy.
